As many of you know, my community is no stranger to natural disasters. I know first hand the positive impact community-based and purpose-focused organizations can have in these situations.
Below is a non exhaustive list of community resources accepting donations and directly helping the communities damaged by remnants of Typhoon Halong.
Help pets: Alaska Rural Veterinary Outreach
Help support World Central Kitchen. They have boots on the ground in the impacted areas distributing food and clean water.
Groups like Lynden Air Cargo are moving physical donations into the rural, hard-to-reach areas. I spoke to a Lynden representative over the phone, and they directed me to guide attention to the Alaska Native Heritage Center and Alaska Federation of Natives, who are helping to organize relief, collect donations, and distribute of physical donations.
If you are in a position to donate physical items directly or ship donations, please contact Lynden Air Cargo, Susitna Energy Solutions, and Alaska Discount Outfitters.
Again, this is a non-exhaustive list. These are the resources I could find who are taking the most direct action and who could be contacted.
Even just sharing some of this information is helpful. Thank you for reading.
