"“Would you like me to adjust my lighting at all?” asks Arlo Z. Graves. “I’m very orange.”
"They (singular “they”) are, indeed, orange on my Zoom, sitting in front of a mostly blank, yellow wall and also a small alcove like a window frame without a window that displays a picture of an animal scull and various objects, including a round, old-fashioned analogue alarm clock showing the time as 9:25 (which, by the way, it isn’t), and what looks like an Oscar figurine.
"By the way, that alcove? It’s severely tilted. Or Arlo is. They can’t both be plumb to the floor. Zoom makes Arlo look like the vertical one, but it could be lying." (excerpt from the interview).
I had an absolute blast chatting with author Caroline Ailanthus. Their transcription is a total delight and can be read in full here!
